Megan Milar – is Founder, Chief Executive Officer, Entrepreneur and Mother of four.
Megan Milar loves travel, fashion and expressing her personal style. She calls Cincinnati, Ohio, home, but from 2009 through 2012, Megan lived abroad in India with her husband and four children. This international experience gave her new friends, a greater appreciation for Indian culture, and eventually, the idea for launching AROVA.
When she first moved to India, Megan admired the gorgeous gold and diamond jewelry that is so common there, but it didn’t feel like a match for her personal style. Then Megan found herself strolling through a market in Delhi on a 110-degree day and discovered the country’s artisan jewelry. Now this was Indian jewelry she could wear and love!
She hopes to bring this same thrill of discovery to other women through AROVA. Before founding AROVA, Megan worked extensively in marketing, retail and consumer research. She spent three years at Procter & Gamble before launching her own full marketing firm and later investing with General Nutrition Center (GNC), one of the leading boutique franchisors in the United States. She has a Bachelor's of Science from Marshall University and a Masters in Business Administration from Xavier University.
Megan is also very grateful for all of the opportunities life has presented to her. After volunteering in India with DIR, a non-profit organization that empowers people and changes lives, she was humbled by their work and has committed to give back to each organization with whom she works. Learn more about DIR and how you can also make a difference!

Megan and Ken Milar have been a united team for the past 18 years, supportive of each other’s personal and professional goals. Since leaving their small hometown in southern Ohio they have called Cincinnati home. Both enjoy celebrating the gifts and joys of life, which hard work and faith has given them by spending time with friends and family. When they are not outside playing with the kids or working, you will often find Megan in her kitchen preparing meals -chatting with friends and neighbors who’ve stopped by. As with many men, Ken loves his grill! He’s not a hard man to find when at home – he enjoys spending time outside visiting and keeping a watchful eye on a neighborhood full of kids. As watchful as a Dad’s two eyes can be, we know Mom has eyes in the back of her head… ;-)
Jennifer Kehoe – Intern and Brand Ambassador
Jennifer has been working with AROVA in a variety of capacities since the company launched in 2013. She is a lifelong friend of the Milar family, having grown up in the same small town. Her responsibilities as an Intern and Advocate include overseeing graphic standards for all internal and external Brand marketing and communication tools; assisting with management of social media content, developing relationship with prospective sales consultants, attending trade shows and other networking events.
Jennifer has called Cincinnati her home for past eight years. Before that, she spent a great deal of time moving around the country, working various jobs, and traveling internationally – Turkey, England, Ireland, and India – to visit friends. In between her adventures across the U.S., she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from the Ohio University. As she reached the BIG 30, she decided to find something a bit more meaningful to devote her time to, which lead to her return to Cincinnati. Never having worked with animals before, she got a job at a prestigious animal hospital and in 2008, graduated with an Associate’s degree from the University of Cincinnati – she is a Registered Veterinary Technician.
In her spare-time, Jennifer is working on obtaining her Master’s degree in Business Administration while working full-time as an Emergency/ICU veterinary technician. When she is not hanging out with the Milar family or other friends and family, then she is at home with her beloved dog – Ozwald and 3 cats. Her love and respect for animals, the planet and desire to make a greater impact in life has led her to take a more active role within AROVA.
Joyce Darr - Arova's 1st Founding Advocate
Joyce and her husband, Eddie, of almost 18 years currently live in Greensboro, North Carolina. She is a proud mother of two amazing daughters and has two wonderful grandchildren. Over the past two decades, Joyce has spent much of her time growing personally and professionally. One of her spiritual gifts is the gift of caring for others – it is this gift that has led her to achieve success as a practicing Licensed Esthetician, Certified Reflexologist and Reiki Master Teacher at The Skin Care Center. Understanding that beauty is more than just a face, she seeks to promote beauty through positive life transformation with a more relaxed and rejuvenating lifestyle. As an Oncology Certified Aesthetician, Joyce expanded her business in 2012, by providing skin care services to patients dealing with the side-effects of chemotherapy and radiation therapy.
When Joyce is not giving her time and energy to others, she enjoys spending time with her best friend and loving husband. She and Eddie enjoy being outdoors, fishing and taking long walks together. Although Joyce seems to be more of a mountain-woman and Eddie is inclined to be on a sandy shore ‘wetting a line’ – they make it work. Of course, they both love spending as much time with the grandkids as they can.
One of the many ways Joyce gives back to her community and others is by participating in various charity activities. At The Skin Care Center, she participates in collecting toys for channel Fox 8’s Gift for Kids and Salvation Army’s Food Bank Drive for non-perishable items. She is active with her church and helps collect shoeboxes for Samaritans Purse.
So what led Joyce to Arova?
When I heard about Arova and their mission of giving back to empower women, I knew I had to be a part of this company. Their belief in People, Planet and Profit is what sealed the deal for me! I have always said God calls certain people to go to the outermost parts of the world, but I have never had that calling – mine was right here at home. We have people that need jobs need to feel love and cared for, and with Arova’s business kits we are able to put women to work here - building their OWN successful business.”
Christal resides in Cincinnati, OH and is soon to marry the love of her life - Ryan. After only meeting three years ago, these two are excited to start their new life together! Christal grew up in, Bowerston, OH, a small town in northeast Ohio where she loved to go biking, fishing, and horseback riding; Ryan grew up in Middletown, OH. Her love of animals and history of trying to “doctor” the sick and injured, as a child, is what eventually lead to a career in veterinary medicine.
In 1992, she moved to Cincinnati to complete high school. Then in 1994 went on to attend God's Bible College where she graduated with an Associate Degree in Secretarial Science as an Administrative Assistant. After graduation she worked several jobs in the years that followed, including a payroll company, a steel fabricating company, and then eventually the law firm where she is presently employed. However, during that time, she still felt unfulfilled, so Christal returned to college. In 2009, Christal graduated from the University of Cincinnati with an Associate Degree in Applied Science – Veterinary Technology. After graduating, she continued to work at the law firm and worked full-time at a non-profit spay/neuter clinic. After passing the National Board exam, she became a Registered Veterinary Technician. She loved, not only working with animals but also providing those of lower-income the opportunity to get their pets spayed/neutered and vaccinated. It was very rewarding!
Christal was sponsored by Abbie Thompson - a good friend. The two met when they were invited to go bowling with a mutual friend. Christal and Abbie clicked right off, as they realized they had something in common...a love for animals and going to vet tech school!
I am excited to be an Arova Advocate! A few years ago I read a book that opened my eyes to the oppression of women around the world. I was amazed at the courage and resilience these women exhibited while in seemingly impossible situations. I wanted to do something to help, however, I didn't just want to rush into something in my time, but wait for God's timing. A few months ago, I received an invitation from Abbie through social media for her online Arova launch party...and here I am!
Heather was born at Camp Lejeune, NC where her father, a Marine, was stationed. She feels very privileged in being given the opportunity to be raised out on the farm, as her family moved to Milan, IN, when she was a young child. Heather moved to Cincinnati, OH to attend University of Cincinnati & Northern Kentucky University, where she received an Associate’s degree in Pre-Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Accounting.
Heather has developed a rich life, here in Cincinnati – she and her husband Brian have been together for over 10 years, share a mutual love of dogs, traveling, and encouraging each other to grow as individuals and partners. The great joy in their lives was gifted to them in 2010, when Heather gave birth to a daughter. She is also an active member of the Anderson Hills United Methodist Church where she is a Sunday school teacher. In addition to her work, family, and Church she also is on the committee for the Art of Making Memories Event, with the Alzheimer's Association. The Art of Making Memories funds the Memories in the Making program, which brings art to the patients in 16 different homes/facilities throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. This year's event is May 7, 2015 - learn more about Art of Making Memories.
When asked “Why, Arova?” this was Heather’s response: (we did not want to edit such an amazing representation of who Heather is as an individual and her excitement about AROVA and dedication to impacting the lives of others)
For as long as I can remember I've always had a goal of helping people and leaving the world a better place. However, as I went to college - I struggled with how I wanted to help people while earning a degree that would be beneficial to me. As I knew that one day I wanted to have my own business but at the time had no idea what that looked like. So, I opted for the Accounting degree as I knew in being a business owner having an accounting background would be tremendously helpful. As the years passed since getting my degree I had many business ideas but none of them worked out for one reason or another. Then I met Megan in 2009, little did I know at that time that she would later impact my life & purpose. I reconnected with Megan in December of 2014 when I came across Arova through a friend of Megan's. After doing some research on Arova and speaking with Megan I fell in love with everything that Megan built Arova to be and then I saw the products and fell even more in love! Everything was so much more gorgeous than what I saw online! I love knowing that everything that Arova buys is helping to empower women around the world and bring them and their families out of poverty & letting them make an impact to their communities! While I am a busy Mom and professional being able to take time to commit to helping these women around the world gives me drive & passion that I never felt in the corporate world! I cannot wait to see how Arova grows & the women it impacts!
Abbie grew up in Myrtle Beach, SC, just walking distance from the beach - her first love is the ocean and everything outdoors. As a (wild) child she brought home stray animals, some needed rescued…and some didn’t! While a southern bell at heart, she left her home state at the age of 18 looking for big adventures. Eventually, she found her way to Richmond, VA where she met now husband, Christopher. They have now lived in Cincinnati for over 10 years and proudly call themselves Cincinnatians. Abbie also has a long history with the Milar family; she used to work for Megan at their GNC stores. She even calls Jennifer Kehoe her friend, as they went to veterinary technician school together and spent many nights studying and drinking Chris’ home-brewed beer.
After having various jobs, Abbie wanted to feel more fulfilled – she decided to head back to school and graduated with an Associate’s degree from the University of Cincinnati in 2008 – she is a Registered Veterinary Technician. To further pursue her education she returned to school and recently, obtained her Bachelor of Applied Science in Veterinary Technology from St. Petersburg College
In 2013, a top Mt. Battie in Camden, ME - overlooking a pristine and beautiful beach, Chris and Abbie finally tied the knot! Chris grew up in the Blue Ridge Mountains outside Roanoke, VA and is a man who truly appreciates the beauty of nature. Mount Battie in Camden National Park was chosen to blend their pasts – first loves of the ocean & the mountains – to start their future.
Abbie loves various outdoor activities, especially hiking and maintaining her garden. Having grown up on the beach it makes being land-locked here in Ohio a bit annoying, but she says that taking vacations to National Parks helps ease her pain. ;-) She also volunteers at several non-profit animal shelters in the area to give back to her community.
“Helping those in need, animal or human, has always been a goal. That goal is what makes me passionate about Arova. Arova gives me the opportunity to promote environmentally conscious products (that I LOVE) while supporting women around the world! What more could an Eco-friendly girl ask for. Save our earth, our animals, and our women, all while looking fabulous. “
Alicia was born in Pennsylvania and moved to Florida in 2000. She is a mover and shaker at her core - after graduating with a degree in accounting she packed her bags with the basics and headed to Florida with a dream. Life has thrown a few major curve balls, but she is still a focused woman with a dream. Now, a long-time resident of Florida, she currently splits her time bentween her home in central Florida – near Winter Haven, and the Lower Keys. While in the Keys, she can be spotted at the Sunset Celebration which is a nightly arts festival. When she is not enjoying her evenings in Key West, Alicia works as a Search Engine Evaluator for Bing and Windows 8. This position allows her the opportunity and flexibility to travel and stay home with her daughter Maven.
Have you ever heard of pyrography? This is one of Alicia’s favorite hobbies, its wood burning! In her free-time, she also enjoys crocheting, quilting, refinishing, and reconstructing worn out items. Another hobby is snorkeling, one she gets to indulge in during her trips to the Keys, and since you can’t spend all your time outdoors – her favorite show is Operation Change.
Alicia also has a passion for helping others. After the loss of her firstborn from Preterm Premature Rupture of Membranes (PPROM), she founded the Mommies with Angel Babies group on Facebook. The Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/MommiesWithAngelBabies was created with the dream of having a non-profit to help support others and research PPROM prevention. Through this support group Alicia is able to share her experience - of losing Alyssa at 21 weeks gestation, and help other mothers who have suffered this devastating loss.
Alicia says Finding Arova has been one of the best opportunities in my life! This is due, in part because Arova was founded on the principal of helping others – of putting People and Planet before Profit.
